our patent-pending X-lens is the culmination of 4 years of ongoing development at hydro grow, designed to increase intensity and coverage area simultaneously. The X-lens is a single-piece of optics grade pmma acrylic, the same type used in corrective eyeglasses. each x-lens is constructed with 21 uniquely engineered amplification optics to intensify our patent-pending 21-led light engine configuration.
there are many types of secondary lenses on the market meant to cover 1 led invidually, yet the properties of these lenses vary dramatically from one design to the next. in fact over 99% of the lenses uses in modern led stage lights or aquarium lights are generic secondary lenses with basic amplification properties of 1.5-2x. hydro grow tested these generic lenses on our prototype led grow lights and the result was nearly double the coverage area while achieving a 1.5x increase in output at 12". we compared the output of these generic lenses next to a specialty-optic made of the same material, and the output on the specialty-optic was 5-6x higher than the generic secondary lens!
we met with a specialty lens manufacturer in china who helped co-develop our x-lens. we chose the lens designs with the highest light amplification properties, the best focusing surface, and the best coverage area. the design of our x-lens gets even more complex than that, but let's just say there is more engineering being put into our new x-lens than any other led lens in existence! the new x-lens is truly an engineering marvel that will advance led grow light technology to levels other companies cannot even begin to imagine. our new heatsinks were developed to match our exclusive new modular design of led grow light. our 1w heatsinks are a solid 15mm thick (.6"), and our 3W heatsinks are a whopping 20mm (.8") thick! this is over twice the thickness of standard USA and chinese-made led grow lights! each heatsink was custom designed for our led grow lights with ultra-thin fins to provide quick heat dissipation, and a copper insert to improve heat transfer between the PCB and heatsink. These improvements mean longer lifespan and brighter output!
to keep the heatsinks cool we have our new dual ball-bearing, 120mm cooling fans. 120mm fans were chosen due to their overal efficiency, as they have the highest flow rate per watt of any fan we tested. dual ball bearings also means these fans will last as long as your led's. the addition of more and larger cooling slots also allows for better ventilation of our led grow lights. all of these new design elements mean your hydro grow generation-x series led grow light will outlast and outshine every other led grow light on the market. No other light runs cooler.
The new generation-x casings from hydro grow have been redesigned from the ground up to match the needs of today's modern gardener. unlike other led grow lights the new gen-x lights use no glass, and instead use our specially designed optic the x-lens as the only barrier between the led and the outside environment. using the x-lens instead of glass increases output efficiency and reduces heavy building materials. the new casings also encircle each x-lens, sealing the led's and pcb board beneath it from the outside environment.
Gen-x casings have a sleek design with no screws in the back, and will have easier and sturdier to use hanging systems. each gen-x light will also come with a free set of Hydro Grow Ratchet-Style light hangers for simple setup out of the box. another nice new feature is our power-linktm system on every model. our power-link system allows multiple panels of any wattage to be connected to each other, so there is no more need for a power strip. each light utilizes heavy-duty 12 guage wiring for this feature, so there is no need to worry about electrical issues or fires. in fact the circuit breaker in your house will pop before this wiring fails. the new casings also feature metal screw-in points for each power supply, as well as back-up hold-down straps to securely fasten the power supplies to the rear casing. these improvements have been made to reduce shipping-related breakages by ups and dhl.
Each Gen-X casing features rounded corners and will come in the standard color of red. users will be able to customize their lights with a variety of different colors at their leisure via a custom, light-creation application added to our site once production has begun.
